Meet the Counselor
Hello! My name is Korina Barefield and I am the school counselor at Esperanza Elementary School! I am excited to be a part of this wonderful school and look forward to the growth and achievement of Esperanza students this year!
In 2011, I graduated from Cal State Bakersfield with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a minor in Sociology. In 2015, I received my Master’s in Counseling is from Cal State Long Beach and this year I have earned my Administrative Credential from USC. Fight On! This is my 7th year as a school counselor in the Westside Union School District.
I offer individual and small group counseling services to all students, as well as deliver classroom guidance lessons. These services promote personal and social growth, which will positively impact student’s academic achievement. Following the direction from our awesome Co-Principals Ms. Hofmann and Mrs. Conner, I will be hugely focusing on building resiliency with our students. My goal is to emphasize the strengths, skills, and mindsets each child has and the ongoing theme of everything I do will be to remind students to NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!! Go Eagles!
Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to help support your student.
